A ten-year-old boy named Ken'ichi Mitsoba finds his schoolwork difficult at elementary school. One day, a small ninja called Kanzo Hattori comes from the Land of the Ninjas and becomes friends with Ken'ichi. Hattori begins living with the Mitsoba family, together with his younger sibling Shinzou and their ninja dog, Shishi-Maru. Being a faithful companion, Hattori aids Ken'ichi in tackling his troubles and always keeps an eye on him.
