In the monotony of his daily life, Sasaki, a middle-aged man, finds comfort in the bright smile of Yamada, a young cashier at the 24-hour supermarket he often visits. After rough days weighed down by his boss’s harsh words, he depends on Yamada’s cheerfulness to lift his spirits. One particularly exhausting evening, Sasaki learns that Yamada has already left for the day. Feeling let down, he looks for a place to smoke and is called over by a woman named Tayama from behind the store. This bold and playfully daring Tayama notices Sasaki’s frequent trips to see Yamada and even shares that observation with the cashier. Over time, Sasaki starts visiting the supermarket not only for Yamada but also to meet his new smoking companion, Tayama. Despite her teasing antics that hide deeper emotions, Tayama and Sasaki form a unique bond through their shared moments spent smoking.

Super no Ura de Yani Suu Futari began as a web manga released on the author's Twitter account on March 9, 2022, and has been officially serialized in Big Gangan since the 2022 August issue on July 25, 2022. It ranked first in the Best Web Manga category at the eighth Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards in 2022. The series has been published digitally in English as Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You by Square Enix through Manga UP! and through Comikey since May 23, 2023. The volumes have been published by Square Enix since February 20, 2024. It has also been released in Polish by Studio JG since May 27, 2024; in Italian by Edizioni BD under the J-Pop imprint since July 10, 2024; and in Spanish by Editorial Ivrea since November 8, 2024.
