In school, Kyouko Hori is seen as cheerful and academically strong, but at home she has a different side. Because her parents are often away on work trips, she has to manage household chores and take care of her younger sibling, which leaves little time for hanging out with friends. Izumi Miyamura, on the other hand, is perceived as a quiet, glasses-wearing otaku, but he is actually a kind person who struggles with his studies. Hidden under his long hair are nine piercings and a tattoo that runs from his back to his left shoulder. By chance, Hori and Miyamura meet outside of school and discover each other's hidden sides. These contrasting personalities grow close, sharing parts of themselves that they keep hidden from others.

Horimiya is a re-telling of the original 4-koma webcomic Hori-san to Miyamura-kun, drawn in standard manga format by Daisuke Hagiwara. The series was published in English by Yen Press from October 27, 2015, to October 22, 2024. It was also released in Polish by Waneko from September 15, 2015, to June 17, 2024; in Spanish by Norma Editorial from August 25, 2017, to May 27, 2022; and in Indonesia by Elex Media from May 24, 2017, to March 30, 2022.
