Hanae Ashiya spends a week confined to the school infirmary after rescuing a strange, fuzzy demon that clings to him and slowly drains his energy. Seeking relief, Ashiya finds a flyer offering exorcism and contacts the exorcist Haruitsuki Abeno. They meet in Abeno's unusual tearoom, the Mononokean, where Abeno initially refuses to remove the demon but later agrees—for a fee. Unable to pay, Ashiya must work off the debt at the Mononokean. As they cooperate over time, their views shift as hidden truths gradually come to light.
