In high school, Hitori "Bocchi" Gotou leads a lonely existence, finding comfort only in her guitar. She dreams of joining a school band to improve her social standing, but despite two years of dedicated practice, she has not succeeded. Although she has an online following for her guitar cover videos, her severe social anxiety keeps her goal out of reach. Everything shifts when drummer Nijika Ijichi discovers Bocchi playing alone in a park and decides to bring her into a band called Kessoku Band, which also includes bassist Ryou Yamada. Though initially overwhelmed by the social interaction, Bocchi realizes this could mark the beginning of a major change in her life.

Bocchi the Rock! ranked eighth in the Best Printed Manga category at the fifth Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards in 2019. Kessoku Band is inspired by the J-rock band Asian Kung-Fu Generation, where the characters share surnames and instrument roles with their counterparts. The series has been published in English by Yen Press since October 17, 2023.
