In the NYPD's 27th precinct, Randy "Ryo" Maclean, who is half-Japanese, begins his career as a detective. He is assigned to work with Dee Laytner, a striking and impulsive veteran detective, and Ryo finds himself bewildered by Dee's immediate affection toward him. Their first joint assignment involves protecting Bikky, a child whose father was murdered due to his involvement in drug trafficking. Despite Bikky's claim of ignorance about his father's criminal activities, Ryo and Dee must shield him from assassins and uncover any concealed evidence he might possess. As they spend more time working together, Ryo and Dee grow closer. Will Ryo reciprocate Dee's growing affections?
