Leo lives in a large mansion and has plenty of money, but he has no friends and often skips school. His parents, who are always abroad working as archaeologists, decide to bring a friend home for him. They introduce Balu—a tall, dark-skinned, handsome young man with bulging muscles, a naive smile, and very broken Japanese. Leo is swept along by Balu's constant, unpredictable behavior, but as he spends time with this earnest and lively companion, he realizes he's genuinely smiling for the first time in years.
