In the series Kekkaishi, junior high student Yoshimori Sumimura lives a double life as a kekkaishi, fighting demons by conjuring magical barriers to trap them at night. During the day, he deals with his own personal struggles—his love of sweets and his extremely short-tempered grandfather. His 16-year-old neighbor and childhood friend, Tokine Yukimura, also shares the same calling as a kekkaishi. However, their families are locked in a long-running feud over which bloodline truly masters the kekkaishi arts.
