Ao no Tatsuki

Edo's largest pleasure district, Yoshiwara, is a place where the emotions of the living and the dead intertwine. Ao, a prodigy courtesan, becomes lost at an unknown shrine—the "Village of Shrines" (Shenchoku Shrine), a realm situated between Ukiyo (the Floating World, also known as Yoshiwara) and Sakai (the Borderland). This shrine can only be reached by those who strongly seek the benefits of spiritual trials. Only courtesans burdened with beautiful and tragic pasts come to this establishment. To guide and save these souls, Ao, together with Yakumaru of Miyaji, unravels the stories of their lives.
