Katen Kyoukotsu

Summary

Katen Kyoukotsu manifests as a spirit in the form of two distinct women. The first is a tall figure with purple hair, wearing a red ribbon, a golden bone headdress, and an eye patch over her right eye. She is clad in an indigo cape featuring a skull imprint and a long, dark dress that flows to reveal her cleavage, a style reminiscent of Rangiku Matsumoto and akin to that of an oiran, or high-class Japanese courtesan. The second woman appears later, dressed in dark, form-fitting attire. Katen Kyōkotsu admits to growing bored of Shunsui’s dull nature after spending so much time with him. This zanpakutou is unique for existing as two separate swords in a daisho pair. In its released state, these transform into two large swords resembling dao or falchions. Kyouraku’s zanpakutō possesses the ability to manipulate wind. Its first technique, Bushō-Goma, or Lazy Isolation, summons a blast of wind from the swords to temporarily distract opponents. The second attack, Takaoni, or Mountain Demon, was interrupted by Starrk with a cero, leaving its full capabilities unclear. The bankai remains unknown, though Ukitake noted that Kyoraku should refrain from using it when surrounded by onlookers.
