Summary
Internationally renowned and highly respected conductor Franz von Stresemann visits Momogaoka Music Academy as a guest instructor, ostensibly to woo the school’s Director. This romantic pursuit leads the public to view him as a lecherous oddball, a perception reinforced by his undignified, demanding, and pervy demeanor, which starkly contrasts with his professional reputation. Despite this chaotic exterior, he quickly forms a bond with Nodame and, after repeatedly turning away other applicants, chooses Chiaki as his sole apprentice. While Stresemann’s erratic conduct frequently lands Chiaki in trouble, he imparts a unique ability to him regarding the emotional expression of music. His dedication to rehearsals is sporadic; he often prioritizes mixing events, visiting nightclubs and host clubs like One More Kiss, and becomes easily intoxicated, requiring Chiaki to step in as vice-conductor. Eventually, his stern assistant Elise forcibly returns him to Europe to resume his career. Later in life, Stresemann cultivates a paternal affection for both Nodame and Chiaki.
