Summary

Aquarius Camus is a Gold Saint and the guardian of the Aquarius Temple, serving under Athena. He is a native of France and a Saint from Siberia. Born on February 7 at the age of 20, he stands 1.84 meters tall and weighs 76 kilograms with blood type A. In the manga, he serves as the master to Cygnus Hyoga and Kraken Isaac, while in the anime, his role as a master is attributed to the Crystal Saint, who in turn taught Hyoga and Isaac. Camus takes his name from the philosopher Albert Camus. Physically, Camus appears cold and composed. He operates on the belief that Gold Saints, being the strongest among Athena’s defenders, must never display exasperation, as doing so could drive their allies into despair. Despite his stern demeanor, he harbors a deep respect for true devotion. He reveals that he was aware the Pope was not acting under Athena’s will, yet he continued to obey orders to fulfill his duty as the Aquarius Gold Saint. He was pleased to see his pupil fighting for the real Athena. While his interaction with Sagittarius Aiolos in the manga led fans to speculate about a close friendship, their bond was solidified in the Hades Saga anime and depicted in Saint Seiya Episode G, where they are shown as friends. Camus’s Cosmo energy is unique among Gold Saints. Rather than generating power through rapid atomic movement, he specializes in halting it. This allows him to freeze matter rather than destroy it. Among warriors who use this ability, Camus is considered the strongest because he can reduce molecular movement to the lowest possible temperatures. Even having mastered the seventh sense, he cannot reach Absolute Zero. However, during the Hades Arc, he awakens the eighth sense, enabling him to enter the Underworld. His signature techniques include Diamond Dust, a basic attack that fires a blast of freezing energy. He also uses Kol'tso, which creates rings of icy wind that encircle a target to stop their movements; although Hyoga used this in the original series, it was later confirmed that Camus possesses it as well. His Freezing Coffin technique locks a body inside a block of ice. Although Camus claimed that even the combined strength of all twelve Gold Saints could not break it, Griffin Minos destroyed the coffin with a single punch when Hyoga used it as a shield. Escaping the technique requires generating a temperature lower than that of the ice itself. His most famous and powerful technique is Aurora Execution, which is said to be the optimal use of freezing power.
