Kuga, Yuuma
Summary
Yuuma Kuga serves as a primary protagonist in the World Trigger series, distinguished as a Neighbor possessing high Trion levels and specialized Trigger Skills. Physically appearing as an eleven-year-old despite his actual age of fifteen, he stands at a petite 141 cm. He is affiliated with the Border organization, specifically the Tamakoma Branch, where he operates as an Attacker within the Tamakoma-2 squad, also known as the Mikumo Squad. His unique side effect functions as a lie detector, and his Trigger type is categorized as both Black and White. Visually, Yuuma has white hair and red eyes. Outside of combat or school settings, he typically dons a black hoodie featuring a paw symbol and the text "UMA," which translates to "Unidentified Mysterious Animal," paired with baggy jeans. His school attire consists of a blue suit top and gray bottoms, standard for Japanese high school students. When activating his Trigger, his appearance shifts significantly. In Black Trigger mode, he wears a black jumpsuit that fuses with the Replica. In C-Class mode, he deviates from the standard all-white trainee uniform, opting for an all-black ensemble with a jacket featuring thick white stripes running from the collar to the sleeves, along with thin gray stripes on the zipper and collar edges. His B-Class uniform resembles Osamu’s but with distinct differences: the jacket lacks a shoulder guard on the left sleeve and features symmetrical designs on both arms. The black stripes on his sleeves are thinner, lack central white lines, and extend over his shoulders and collar. The Tamakoma Branch emblem is surrounded by stripes on his shoulders, the sleeves merge with his gloves, and he tucks his pants into his boots, similar to his C-Class attire. His Unit’s emblem is positioned on his left chest. Yuuma exhibits a laid-back personality and lacks familiarity with Japanese customs, a result of his upbringing in another world despite having a Japanese father, which occasionally leads to conflicts with rough individuals. He approaches situations logically, such as advising Mikumo to avoid the Trion Battle Soldier to prevent potential death rather than attempting a rescue. Although he aligns with Border’s mission to fight against Neighbor forces, his cheerful demeanor masks a deep depression stemming from his father’s sacrifice to revive him. This event left him feeling that his only remaining purpose in life was to justify the cost of his resurrection.
