von Bielefeld, Wolfram
Summary
Wolfram von Bielefeld is a male mazoku characterized by his strikingly androgynous beauty, often described as a bishounen. With shoulder-length blonde hair, long eyelashes, and emerald green eyes, he bears a strong resemblance to his late mother, Cecilie von Spitzweig, though he inherited his fiery temperament from his father. Standing at approximately 170cm, he typically wears a United States Officer's Uniform from the Mexican American War era. As the third son of the former Maou and half-brother to Gwendal and Conrad, Wolfram initially displays an arrogant, hot-headed, and spoiled personality, harboring a deep prejudice against humans. He is fiercely proud of his demonic heritage and struggles to acknowledge Conrad as his brother, though he cares for him deeply. His life changes when a cultural misunderstanding leads to an engagement with Yuuri. Wolfram becomes obsessed with protecting his fiancé, following him everywhere and displaying intense jealousy, often accusing Yuuri of infidelity. Despite his initial dislike of humans, his perspective shifts over time; he adopts the human girl Greta as his daughter, acknowledges Yuuri’s parents as future in-laws, and even risks his life to save a human child. His beautiful appearance is so renowned that it has been said to miraculously heal the dying, and Yuuri once slapped him rather than punched him to avoid marring such a pretty face. Wolfram possesses fire magic and swordsmanship skills, and while he insists on painting, his skills are notably poor despite his past talent for realistic portraits. During the series, Wolfram is possessed by the Original King, who is controlled by Soushu. To open a Forbidden Box, the Original King rips Wolfram’s heart out, causing temporary death before he is revived. Later, when Yuuri is absent, the Ten Noble Families of Shin Makoku select Wolfram to become the next Maou. Under pressure from his uncle Waltorana, Wolfram dissolves his engagement with Yuuri and returns to his homeland to prevent being used as a political tool against him. Yuuri and his retainers pursue him, leading to a formal duel where Wolfram fights with lethal intent to ensure Yuuri can safely remain the Maou. In the climax, Yuuri absorbs Wolfram’s fatal attack, revealing that Wolfram had orchestrated the event to protect Yuuri’s position. After the noble families reverse their decision, Wolfram and Yuuri reconcile, and Wolfram returns to his usual devoted, albeit comically jealous, self, having matured from a spoiled prince into a selfless young man willing to serve Shin Makoku for Yuuri’s sake.
