Summary
Asuka Katakura serves as the 6th Seat in the 3rd Division of the Gotei 13 under Captain Roujuurou Otoribashi. During the Vandenreich invasion, he stands near the base of a pillar of blue flame alongside Lieutenant Izuru Kira and other Third Division officers. When Taketsuna Gori complains about the long wait and hopes the enemy appears soon, Asuka reprimands him. After a member of the Reishi Investigation Team reports that a Quincy is hiding within the flame, Izuru orders an attack but is severely injured before he can act. Third Seat Rikū Togakushi then commands the remaining Shinigami to attack with their Shikai. Asuka releases his Shikai but is swiftly overpowered by the Quincy, who slams his head into the ground.
