de Guise, Charles

Summary

Charles de Guise was a French Jewish colonel in the French army who collaborated with the Qing-Bang. While he was familiar with Sonkaken, he favored conventional combat methods involving guns and swords over martial arts. He had a sister named Sophie, who suffered from memory suppression due to trauma sustained while escaping Nazi Germany. Her non-Jewish German husband had been sent to a concentration camp, as Nazi law prohibited their marriage. Sophie’s memories were restored through Kenshiro’s acupressure techniques, but she was subsequently assassinated by Zhang Tai Yan. De Guise was eventually fatally wounded by Liú Fēi-Yàn, who challenged him to a duel after deciding he was unfit to care for Erika. Kenshiro applied acupressure to prolong De Guise’s life just long enough for him to witness a vision of his friends creating a prosperous Shanghai where Jews could find refuge. Believing that Kenshiro and his companions would make this vision a reality, De Guise died in peace.
