Chika Shihouin was the inaugural captain of the 2nd Division, a position he held over 1,000 years ago as one of the founding leaders of the Gotei 13. Possessing immense spiritual energy, he played a pivotal role during the first invasion of Soul Society by the Quincy, where he effortlessly overcame and slew numerous warriors. When the Lichtreich attacked the Seireitei, Chika displayed exceptional mastery of Hakuda, relying exclusively on this unarmed combat style to dispatch enemy soldiers with brutal kicks. His physical strength was formidable enough to decapitate a Quincy with a single strike. According to Yhwach, Chika was infamous for his brutal and cold-blooded nature, a reputation cemented by the massacre he inflicted upon the Lichtreich forces during their initial incursion into Soul Society. His Zanpakuto, in its sealed state, appeared as a katana featuring an ornate X-shaped golden tsuba, an orange handle adorned with a purple tassel, and an orange scabbard. The names and forms of his Shikai and Bankai remain unrevealed, and no voice actor has yet been assigned to this character.
