Summary
First appearing in the second volume of the manga, Kuchiki officially joins Genshiken alongside Ogiue in the fourth volume, reportedly after being expelled from the Anime Club. He previously belonged to the Anime Society. Kuchiki is an abrasive character known for his loud, obnoxious manner of speaking and a complete lack of inhibition regarding indecent acts, such as spying on girls. He insists on being called Kuchi and takes pleasure when others use this nickname. Furthermore, he is unashamed about participating in cosplay. Within the group, Kuchiki ranks as the second-best fighting game player, trailing only Kousaka. He harbors ambitions to become the next Genshiken president and twice expected to be chosen for the role, only to be passed over by Ohno and subsequently Ogiue. Primarily serving as a background comedic figure, he is frequently the target of the group’s slapstick and risqué humor. Kuchiki functions as the boke to the rest of the Genshiken members, who act as the tsukkomi. In the manga’s relaunch, it is revealed that he does not need to seek employment because family connections guarantee him a position at a local bank.
