Aries Mu is a fictional character from the manga Saint Seiya, created by Japanese mangaka Masami Kurumada, who was later adapted into an anime series. He first appeared in volume 3 of the manga and episode 10 of the anime. A Gold Saint serving the goddess Athena, Mu is one of the most trusted allies of the bronze Saints and is primarily known for repairing damaged Cloths during the early stages of the story. Mu possesses the strongest raw psychic talent among all living Gold Saints, a gift inherited from his training under Shion, the Pope of the Sanctuary. This immense power allows him to utilize psychokinesis, telepathy, and teleportation, along with other abilities such as Glamour Illusion, Crystal Wall, Crystal Net, Starlight Extinction, and Stardust Revolution. He is described as soft-spoken, tranquil, and logical, often resembling a professor of the Sanctuary. Due to his demeanor, he is frequently referred to as 'Lord Mu' or 'Mister Mu' in various translations and by fans. He maintains a close friendship with Taurus Aldebaran and shows deep respect for his 243-year-old master, Libra Dohko. Prior to the main events of the series, Mu left the Sanctuary after suspecting that his mentor and former Pope, Aries Shion, had been assassinated. He moved to Jamir, a mystical realm accessible only to those with high levels of psychic or Cosmo power. There, he lived in solitude with his apprentice, the young psychic Kiki. Mu only reengaged with the affairs of the Sanctuary years later upon meeting Dragon Shiryu and Pegasus Seiya. As the Gold Saint of Aries, Mu is the go-to Saint for restoring Cloths that have been severely damaged. While normal Cloths can regenerate themselves, those near death require his direct intervention. This process involves using hardware tools and specific forging materials, including the rare metal Gammanium alloyed with Orichalcum, and the radiant Star Dust Sand. The restoration typically requires one-third of the Saint’s total blood supply to begin the work immediately.
