Summary
An American friend of Oono, Susanna, who is more commonly called Susie or Sue, is a petite girl with a strong passion for yaoi. She initially appears somewhat harsh and unsociable, surprising the other Genshiken members by using crude anime and manga quotes in Japanese, written in katakana to indicate her lack of fluency. As her comprehension improves, her habit of responding exclusively in quotes makes it difficult for Ogiue and others to determine her actual proficiency in the language, much to their frustration. Her extensive knowledge of references suggests she is well-versed in both anime and manga, having watched titles such as Shinseiki Evangelion, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, Hokuto no Ken, Saint Seiya, Inuyasha, Mahoromatic, Azumanga Daioh, Doraemon, and Lupin III, among others. She also appears to be obsessed with Japanese culture. Her age is unknown, with Oono and others refusing to disclose it. Susanna hopes to study in Japan in the near future. In the manga's relaunch, Sue transfers to Shiiou University as a first-year student and new club member of Genshiken. She becomes very close to Ogiue and continues to quote various anime and manga series. Ogiue employs her as an assistant for the official manga she is writing and drawing.
