Summary
Hime Yarizakura is a sixteen-year-old high school student endowed with supernatural abilities. Her backstory varies between adaptations; in the anime, she became the city’s mayor as a child after her grandmother was "tuned" by Akina’s grandfather, whereas the manga depicts her grandmother’s death as natural. She deeply cherishes a long scarf crafted by Akina, which serves to conceal a neck scar inflicted by Yae Shinatsuhiko to suppress most of her youkai powers. In the manga narrative, the entire town, including her friends, had their memories of Hime’s youkai nature sealed at her own request during childhood. She sought this amnesia to gain a balanced perspective on both human and youkai existence. This seal was broken in chapter thirteen when a political rival group, campaigning against her cousin Kohime, threatened the townspeople with a barrier that endangered youkai lives. To save them, Yae was forced to weaken the protective barrier, thereby restoring everyone’s memories. Hime is a glutton with a particular fondness for noodles, especially those prepared by Akina. Despite this, she is sensitive about her weight and maintains her figure through daily patrols and training based on her grandmother’s teachings. She strives to become a great mayor like her predecessor, masking her kind heart with a sometimes harsh demeanor. Her weapon of choice differs by medium: she wields a lacrosse racket in the manga and a collapsible spear in the anime. She shares a deep bond with Akina and Gin.
