Summary
Ako Atarashi serves as a protagonist in the spin-off manga Saki Achiga-hen episode of side-A. She is a first-year high school student attending Achiga Girls' Academy in Nara Prefecture. Ako shares an elementary school bond with Shizuno Takakamo and Nodoka Haramura. During her elementary years, she ranked as the third-best player within Achiga's mahjong club. After the club disbanded, she transferred to a different middle school to keep playing the game, with the intention of entering the mahjong powerhouse Bansei High School. However, when Shizuno re-established the club, Ako chose to return to her original school.
