Yamura, Daiichi
Summary
Despite a gruff, no-nonsense exterior, Daiichi proved to be a hardworking and responsible boy. He dedicatedly cared for his three younger siblings, Yoshi, Futaba, and Santa, after their mother died years earlier and their father abandoned the family three years prior. Their paternal uncle compensated for his brother’s disappearance by renting a home for the four siblings and covering all expenses. Daiichi contributed to the household by working as a mail and newspaper boy, as well as helping at his uncle’s landscaping business on his days off. He chose to live separately from his uncle with his siblings to ensure their father would have a place to return to if he ever decided to come back. When he and the other main characters first became involved with Zearth, Daiichi was the first to voice doubts and attempt to leave the game before the group learned the truth of their involvement. His chair was actually a floating cushion, a fact that led to light teasing from the other kids for its lack of imagination. During the fourth battle, Daiichi refused to move until the citizens had sufficient time to escape, a practice later adopted by all future pilots.
