Kubo, Mitsuo

Summary

Plagued by deep-seated insecurity stemming from mockery regarding his looks, Kubo Mitsuo exists in a state of social isolation that has warped his psyche into something extremely self-centered, delusional, and aggressively attention-seeking. His emotional maturity is severely stunted, leading to volatile tantrums over minor inconveniences like tripping over trash or being rebuffed by Yukiko. When confronted with the reality of his empty life and lack of accomplishments, he responds with irrational fury and willful ignorance. Despite his lonely status, he desperately craves recognition, fabricating achievements such as conquering video game bosses to inflate his self-worth. He deludes himself into believing he shares a romantic bond with Yukiko, the town’s most popular girl, viewing her as a gateway to higher social standing, while in reality, he is a stalker who photographs her and harbors intense hatred for everyone else. During the Investigation Team’s rescue of Naoto from her dungeon, the group deduces that Mitsuo could not be the primary killer, determining he was only responsible for Mooroka’s murder and likely had no awareness of the TV World.
