Summary

Standing at 167cm, Sae is sixteen years old during the events of Hidamari Sketch-365 and seventeen in Hoshimittsu-Honeycomb. She is an upperclassman and close friend of Hiro. In the anime adaptation, she also has a younger sister named Chika. Sae specializes in fiction writing and works professionally under the pen name Aya Tachibana. She enrolled in the school specifically to acquire the skills necessary to illustrate her own stories. Physically tall and athletic, Sae typically presents a mature demeanor, yet she possesses a playful, enigmatic, and cunning side. She enjoys teasing Yuno by providing just enough warning about impending issues for the younger girl to fail to avoid them. Sae also has a penchant for playing detective when dealing with anomalies, such as the situation surrounding Miyako’s apartment. She becomes irritated if Miyako comments on her having masculine traits. Furthermore, she is deeply uncomfortable when questioned about her romantic history, often fabricating absurd stories while blushing furiously. Sae is shy regarding her true feelings toward her friends and particularly her sister. She finds it easier to chide and scold Chika during visits than to express genuine affection, though her face turns beet-red whenever she shows real concern for her sibling.
