Luna

Summary

Luna makes her debut in the opening episode or act of every iteration of the series. During the Silver Millennium era, she served as a devoted attendant to Princess Serenity, vowing never to abandon her side, while also acting as an advisor to the Queen. Following the kingdom's collapse, she and Artemis were placed into a prolonged slumber and dispatched to Earth to protect the Senshi, who were destined to be reborn in that world. To facilitate her mission, part of Luna's memory was suppressed, leaving her with the singular directive to locate and awaken the Guardian Senshi. She discovered Usagi Tsukino first and trained her to become Sailor Moon, unaware that this identity was merely a disguise intended to conceal Usagi's true nature as the reincarnated princess. Throughout the narrative, Luna forms a close bond with Usagi, although their early relationship is strained. Luna frequently frustrates Usagi by offering unsolicited advice, a dynamic that often results in comedic situations. She also establishes a strong friendship with Ami Mizuno. An implied romantic connection between Luna and Artemis is solidified upon their encounter with Diana, who is revealed to be their daughter from the future. Additionally, during the Sailor Stars arc, Luna develops a crush on Kou Yaten, a member of the Three Lights. Luna stars in a special manga story titled "The Lover of Princess Kaguya," which was adapted into the Sailor Moon S movie. In this tale, she falls in love with a human named Kakeru and undergoes her first transformation into a human form. Visually, Luna is depicted with blue eyes in both the manga and the live-action series, whereas she has red eyes in the anime adaptation.
