Summary
Gray the Nine Lives serves as the primary combatant for the Gung-Ho-Guns. He is a towering, heavily muscled humanoid cyborg standing seven feet five inches tall, clad in a studded black leather or vinyl jumpsuit. His anatomy is a grotesque blend of metal and flesh, granting him both immense physical strength and surprising agility despite his massive frame. His head and neck can stretch to resemble a snake or worm, while his mouth lacks lips, featuring a vertical slit lined with small, thin teeth. In the manga, Gray conceals his brain within his hips, a trait that allows him to operate his legs independently of his upper body. During his confrontation with Wolfwood, he utilizes large gauntlets equipped with integrated grenade launchers. He also possesses numerous weapons hidden within his body. Unlike the manga version, the original anime depicts him as a silent figure who communicates only through eerie noises and laughter, particularly when mocking Wolfwood during their battle. The Trigun Stampede adaptation reimagines him as a colossal, heavy mecha, suggesting it is piloted by an unseen operator.
