Summary
Hamegg, also known as Ham Egg, made his debut in 1945 within Tezuka’s commercial manga Treasure Island. He stands as one of Osamu Tezuka’s most enduring characters, with significant appearances spanning multiple works. In Kimba the White Lion, he portrays the villainous hunter Viper Snakely, a role that reappears in the 1997 film Jungle Emperor Leo, albeit with a shifted narrative function. His portfolio also includes roles in Nextworld, Metropolis, and Black Jack. He appears as a malevolent robot circus owner in Astro Boy, though his most prominent part is that of Inspector Akabane in Adolf. While Hamegg typically projects a gentlemanly demeanor, his boorish mannerisms prevent him from fully embodying that image. Contrary to his smaller, cuter designs, he becomes increasingly cynical as his stature decreases.
