Summary
Souma Kyou is a sixteen-year-old Capricorn with an A blood type, standing at 171.3 cm and weighing 56 kg. He is characterized by his orange hair and eyes, which appear orange in the manga and the 2019 anime, but red in the original anime adaptation. His personal symbol is the cat, and he harbors a strong affection for codfish, his karate master, and Honda Tooru. Conversely, he has a deep aversion to chives, leeks, onions, miso, rain, water, and specifically Yuki. Kyou is defined by his stubborn and hot-headed nature, becoming easily provoked and angered in any situation. Like many members of the Sohma clan, he is cursed to transform into an animal of the Zodiac upon being hugged by someone of the opposite sex. His cursed form is the cat, which, according to legend, was excluded from the official twelve animals due to the rat's trickery. This history fuels Kyou's hatred for Yuki, the current rat of the family. The two are constant rivals who frequently fight, though Kyou loses every encounter. His demeanor began to soften after meeting Honda Tooru, who holds the legend of the cat in high regard.
