Summary
Despite her polished appearance, it is hard to reconcile Akie with her role as Kaoru’s actress mother, especially given that she abandoned the family five years ago when Kaoru was placed under B.A.B.E.L. stewardship. The timing suggests that Kaoru’s father may have been driven away or killed by her uncontrolled Level 7 telekinesis, a terrifying event that caused Akie to flee her responsibilities. Unlike Minamoto, who actively sets boundaries for Kaoru and endures her verbal and telekinetic resistance, Akie avoids her parental duties entirely. Her refusal to accept Kaoru as her daughter, despite Kaoru being an esper, drives Akie to focus heavily on her career instead.
