von Mariendorf, Hildegard
Summary
Hildegard von Mariendorf, often called Hilda, is a central figure in the series who served as the Chief Advisor to the New Galactic Fleet. Born in Galactic year 777 into the prestigious Goldenbaum dynasty, she was the only daughter of Count Franz von Mariendorf, a benevolent and just nobleman. Although her mother died when Hilda was young, her open-minded father supported her unique perspective. Unlike other aristocratic women, Hilda pursued her own interests in politics, history, and reading, displaying independent ideas from a young age. In U.C. 797, the Galactic Empire fractured into a civil war between the old nobility and the rising military elite led by Reinhard von Lohengramm. Hilda persuaded her father to pledge allegiance to Reinhard’s faction. During this time, she met Reinhard for the first time and impressed him with her sharp insights. After Reinhard’s camp won the war, he consolidated political and military power, and Hilda became his chief secretary, assisting in the progressive reforms that transformed the empire. From U.C. 798 to U.C. 800, Hilda was highly active on the galactic stage, providing wise counsel on imperial policies and tactics. She became one of Reinhard’s most trusted and valued staff members. During Operation Ragnarök, a major battle between the Empire and the Alliance, Hilda served as a staff officer and made history as the first female to board the Flagship Brünhild.
