Summary
Lucy first appeared in the episode "Queen of the Serpentine!" within the anime series. It was noted that she generally avoids teaching her Pokémon defensive moves. Prior to her encounter with Ash, she utilized her Seviper to rescue Ash’s Pikachu from Team Rocket, simultaneously defeating Jessie’s Seviper in the process. During their battle, Ash initially deployed Donphan against Lucy’s Seviper. Although Lucy held the advantage despite the type disadvantage, Ash reversed the situation by using Donphan’s Rollout to counter Seviper’s Flamethrower, resulting in the serpent Pokémon’s defeat. Lucy then sent out her Milotic, which swiftly defeated Donphan with a single powerful Hydro Pump. With no options remaining, Ash called upon Pikachu. Despite the type disadvantage, Lucy nearly secured victory by bombarding Pikachu with Hydro Pumps and Twisters, even leveraging paralysis through Facade. Ash ultimately won by innovating a strategy where Pikachu jumped into a Twister to execute a spinning Volt Tackle. Beyond her preference for serpentine Pokémon, Lucy has a fondness for squinty eyes, keeping several pet Pokémon with this feature at home. She develops a crush on Brock because of his squinty eyes. Her anime personality differs significantly from her game counterpart; while she is quiet, she is kind enough to allow Ash to battle her despite the Gym being closed, and she congratulates him on his win. In contrast, the game version is narcissistic and irritated by defeat. This change in attitude in the anime is attributed to her crush on Brock and her desire to impress him.
