Kinomoto, Fujitaka

Summary

Fujitaka Kinomoto, born on March 1st, is a college professor at Towa University specializing in archaeology. A kind and caring man, he enjoys sweet foods, Menrui, cooking, and the colors white, ivory, and brown, with a fondness for Nadeshiko, peach, and cherry flowers. He is the father of Sakura Kinomoto and, in the manga continuity, the reincarnated half of Clow Reed. After Clow Reed divided his soul to relinquish his status as the world's most powerful magician, Fujitaka inherited the non-magical half, while Eriol Hiiragizawa received the magical memories. Although Fujitaka lacks innate magical abilities, he remains immune to external spells, such as Eriol’s sleep enchantment. At the series' conclusion, Eriol transfers half of his magic to Fujitaka, allowing him to finally see the spirit of his late wife, Nadeshiko, who had been watching over them since her death. Fujitaka first met Nadeshiko when she fell from a tree while trying to return a baby bird to its nest during his early teaching days. Struck by the sight, he likened her to an angel fallen from the sky. They married when she was sixteen, and despite her passing seven years before the story begins, he remains deeply devoted to her memory, updating a photo of her in the dining room every morning. In the anime adaptation, his connection to Clow Reed is removed, along with his magic immunity and ability to see Nadeshiko’s spirit. The character is voiced by Hideyuki Tanaka in the Japanese version and Brian Drummond in the Cardcaptors English adaptation, where his name is changed to Aiden Avalon.
