Summary

Tendou Akane stands at 1.57 meters tall and enjoys martial arts, particularly as a method for anger management, along with various sports. She is far from delicate, displaying an exuberant, life-loving demeanor in all her actions. While she appears agile on land, she is clumsy in the water. Her eyes are dark blue, though they appear brown in the anime adaptation. She has a standard nose and a cute smile. Her hair is navy blue and cut short in a boyish style; initially an accident, she kept the cut after realizing it suited her better than her long hair, which did not reflect her personality as well as it did her sister Kasumi’s. Akane hates being called a tomboy, ugly, or uncut, and reacting with violence is the quickest way to earn her wrath. The second-fastest method is to grope her, as she strongly dislikes perverts. While ordinary perverts in Nerima often escape her notice, Ranma, who is a subconscious pervert, frequently finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time and gets malletted for it. She is a fiery young woman who resists domination and refuses to be told how to act or behave, insisting on being herself. Despite her outward appearance, Akane is complex. To most people, she is sweet and good-natured with a quick temper, but to Ranma, she seems like a violent, man-hating tomboy. First impressions matter greatly to her. She struggles with traditional feminine roles due to a lack of female role models, aside from her eldest sister Kasumi, whom she emulated for many years. She finds activities like the tea ceremony and gymnastics difficult, and she defies societal expectations regarding how a girl should behave in a relationship. Akane has lived her entire life at the Tendou Dojo with her father Soun and two sisters. Her mother died when Akane was young, so she was largely raised by Kasumi and Soun during her childhood.
