Summary
Megumi shares an exceptionally close bond with his sister, Saki. Having always been by her side, he dedicated himself to mastering the art of curses after discovering her abilities, driven by a desire to ensure she was not the only "weird" member of their family. Both siblings favor wearing black, as they find the color calming, and Megumi deliberately aligned himself with Saki’s struggles so she would not have to endure them alone. His name serves as an ironic contrast, as "Megumi" translates to "blessing," while his chosen path involves placing curses upon others. Although he has never been depicted actually cursing anyone, Megumi played a crucial role in defending Tooru. When the Prince Yuki Fan Club attempted to exploit Saki’s vulnerabilities to breach Tooru’s defenses, Megumi joined his sister in intimidating the group. His dark demeanor and his eerie ability to guess the girls' names effectively drove them away from the house. The following day, Saki claimed that the intruders would be cursed within three days, a statement that, while plausible given Megumi’s earlier comment that he only needed their names, was never confirmed in the manga, leaving the possibility that Saki was bluffing. Mature beyond his years in intelligence, behavior, and even sexual awareness, Megumi is often viewed as a stabilizing force. In the manga, Arisa notes his lack of typical middle schooler behavior, remarking that he acts more like a "lecherous old man" when he visits her restaurant and sees her in a miniskirt. He is frequently referred to as the trio's "bodyguard," a role he embraces by going to great lengths to assist Arisa and Saki in protecting Tooru. Megumi holds Arisa in high esteem and is always willing to go above and beyond to help her.
