Kujikawa, Rise

Summary

Rise Kujikawa is a fifteen- to sixteen-year-old girl with bright red hair styled in twin pigtails. Born on June 1, 1995, she stands 155 cm tall with an AB blood type. Before enrolling as a freshman at Yasogami High School, she was one of Japan's most popular idols. Seeking to escape the intense stress of fame and lead a normal life, she abruptly quit her career and transferred to Inaba. Her grandmother manages the Marukyu Tofu shop in the local shopping district, where Rise initially assists after her return. Her visual design bears a strong resemblance to Yuka Ayase from Shin Megami Tensei: Persona. In the game's mechanics, Rise serves as a support character, a role she assumes after Teddie's Persona awakens. Her initial Persona is Himiko, associated with The Lovers Arcana. Himiko appears as a figure in a white gown with a satellite dish for a face, wielding a visor similar to a torch. This Persona enables Rise to provide strategic background and enemy information to the party during and outside of combat. After the protagonist completes her Lovers Social Link, Himiko evolves into her Ultimate Persona, Kanzeon. Rise's Shadow manifests as a pole dancer in a rainbow zentai suit that mirrors her appearance. Her associated dungeon in the Midnight Channel resembles a strip club, complete with stages, poles, and sexually suggestive shadows. This manifestation reflects her resentment toward being stereotyped as an eroticized, airheaded pop star and sex symbol. Beneath this anger, her core anxiety stems from a struggle to discover her true identity. During the Lovers Social Link, the protagonist helps Rise navigate her transition away from the entertainment industry. Although she initially rejoiced in leaving behind her public alias, "Risette," she begins to regret her departure after facing pressure from her former manager, a replacement idol, and a letter from a devoted fan. The protagonist helps her understand that Risette, while a public persona, was still an integral part of who she is. Accepting all sides of herself, Rise decides to return to her idol career by spring. She is also one of the female characters with whom the protagonist can pursue a romantic relationship.
