Urabe, Hanji

Summary

In his elementary school days, Urabe served as a rival to Ishizaki and was selected as a player for Nankatsu SC. His arrogant demeanor often led him to shout at his teammates in a humorous manner, a trait he shared with Ishizaki. During middle school, he rose to become the captain of the soccer team at Otomo, forming the "Otomo Quartet" alongside Takeshi Kishida, Masao Nakayama, and Koji Nishio. In the World Youth arc, Urabe played for the Nankatsu high school team, initially announcing to his peers that he would quit soccer after graduation to assist his family with their tofu business. However, coach Gamo persuaded him to join the R.J.7, a special training squad for the All Japan Youth team. Adopting the role of the antagonist, the grueling training he endured allowed him to significantly improve his skills. Alongside other R.J.7 members, he defeated many of the All Japan Youth players, a revelation that occurred after the first round of the Asian preliminaries. It was then revealed that his true intention was to strengthen the All Japan Youth squad. Following Misaki’s serious injury, Urabe joined the national team, stepping in for Ishizaki during the final match against Brazil, which ultimately convinced him to continue his soccer career. Later, in the Road to 2002 storyline, he joined Jubilo Iwata alongside Ishizaki.
