Summary
Kazuma is a man of at least thirty-four years of age. In his youth, he treated his grandfather, who was the Sohma family member cursed by the cat of the Chinese Zodiac, with cruelty during their single encounter, driven solely by prejudice against the curse. Seeking redemption for those past actions, he chose to raise Kyo Sohma after Kyo’s mother took her own life. Serving as both an adoptive father and a martial arts instructor, Kazuma holds a deep respect for Tohru. He sincerely hopes that her affection for Kyo is genuine and that their bond will avoid repeating the tragic dynamic between his own grandparents. Kyo addresses him as Shishou, or master. Beyond Kyo, Kazuma has also instructed other members of the Sohma family, including Kagura, Yuki, and Haru.
