Summary
Arata Sagimori serves as a protagonist in the spin-off manga Saki: Achiga-hen episode of side-A. She is a second-year high school student at Achiga Girls' Academy in Nara Prefecture. Her family owns a local bowling alley, and she is a childhood friend of Kuro and Yuu Matsumi. Arata began playing mahjong as a kindergartener at the Matsumi inn but quit after her first year of elementary school. She was a devoted admirer of Harue Akado, which caused her to lose interest in the game when Harue retired following Achiga's defeat in the national tournament. However, after Kuro told her that Harue had returned to playing, Arata agreed to rejoin the Achiga mahjong club. Harue subsequently appointed Arata as the club president, citing her status as the team's most level-headed member.
