Summary

Latias is a birdlike Pokémon stylized after an aircraft, featuring a long neck extending from a squat, legless body that typically floats. Its coloration consists of a white upper half and a red rear half, accented by jet-plane wings high on its back and fins near the tail. A blue triangle marks its chest, while a red mask partially covers its face, complemented by ear-like fins on its head and yellow eyes. It possesses short, three-fingered arms with red coverings on the outer lower arms. As a female-only species, Latios serves as its male counterpart. When sensing hostility, Latias ruffles its feathers and cries loudly. Its glass-like, downy feathers can enfold its body and refract light, allowing it to become invisible or alter its appearance. Gentle and highly intelligent, it understands human speech and uses telepathy for communication. In Pokémon Heroes, Pokémon Adventures, and Pokémon Journeys: The Series, Latias possessed "Sight Sharing," enabling it and nearby people to see what Latios saw. It generally avoids contact with humans and other Pokémon, disappearing when enemies are near. Latias forms herds near water and, as seen in Pokémon Horizons: The Series, can be found in Laqua, a Pokémon paradise for Legendaries. It has a fondness for Latias Treats made by Snacksworth, who encountered it in the past, and can be summoned using the Eon Flute. Latias can Mega Evolve into Mega Latias. In this form, its red body parts turn purple, and horns grow from its head along its jaw. It loses its back wings, which are replaced by larger wings on its lower arms, usually held level. Triangle shapes now mark the forward points of its wings rather than its chest. Aside from its eyes and size, Mega Latias looks identical to Mega Latios. It is considered one of the fastest Pokémon, reaching Mach 4 speeds and outpacing jets. Being smaller than Mega Latios, it is more agile and capable of sharp turns. Its enhanced flying capabilities and attack power allow it to scatter transparent particles to quickly confuse opponents.
