Summary
Sephiroth serves as the elite member of SOLDIER and a celebrated war hero, standing as the primary antagonist to Cloud Strife. During the Nibelheim incident, he descended into madness after discovering he was the result of an experiment to create a superbeing using the cells of an alien named Jenova, whom he regarded as his mother. Born to Professor Hojo and Lucrecia Crescent, he was injected with Jenova cells while still in the fetal stage. He is infamous for slaughtering the last surviving Ancient and nearly destroying the planet. Once known for his strategic brilliance and courage, his insanity transformed him into a sadistic killer who takes pleasure in inflicting pain, particularly on Cloud, whom he refers to as his "puppet." Possessing unwavering willpower, he refuses to merge with the Lifestream even after his defeat. He later reappears in Advent Children, determined not to remain merely a memory. He is left-handed and wields a long katana named Masamune.
