Summary
Known as the Esper Killer, Colonel J.D. Grisham is a terrifying opponent whose Level 7 telepathy allows him to hijack the abilities of nearby espers for his own benefit. He serves as a formidable antagonist who has severely tested both Liberty Bell and B.A.B.E.L. by turning their own thoughts and powers against them, establishing himself as a potential alpha adversary comparable to Kyousuke. Beyond his deadly skills, Grisham is a terrible karaoke singer and holds the belief that an esper’s power is directly tied to their willpower, a lesson Kaoru learns the hard way when her telekinesis fails during moments of lost concentration. After uncovering his backstory through Minamoto’s investigation, Kaoru collaborates with Mary and Naomi to help drain a reservoir. Grisham’s ultimate goal is to facilitate a collaboration between B.A.B.E.L. and Liberty Bell to grant the dying Saya her final wish: to see her hometown, which lies beneath the reservoir, before she passes away. This desire stems from his gratitude toward Saya, who nursed him back to health after an esper soldier, likely Kyousuke Hyobu, destroyed his bomber and killed the entire crew, leaving him as the sole survivor.
