Summary
Nakarai, Mako dedicated her life to honesty and community service, striving to be viewed as a reliable and responsible individual. However, the public knowledge that her mother worked as a prostitute, combined with her stern and overly serious demeanor, isolated her from peers, leaving her without friends. Since elementary school, she endured intense emotional turmoil when faced with hatred or deceit, to the point where she was unable to physically defend herself against bullies, suppressing any urge to protest in favor of maintaining her duty. Despite this suffering, she admired her mother’s strength and hoped to carry herself with similar pride. She even supported her mother financially by giving her the earnings from needlework, and it was her mother’s suggestion that she attend nature school to help her finally connect with others.
