Summary

Sengoku is the supreme commander of the World Government's naval forces, a status symbolized by the life-size seagull perched on his hat. He manages the Navy from the Sanctuary of Marie Joie and answers only to the Gorōsei, the leaders of the World Government. He possesses a pet goat. His name can be written in kanji to mean "warring states," referencing a specific period in Japanese history. Twenty years prior, while serving as an admiral, he handed the Golden Den Den Mushi to Spandine, which enabled the authorization of the Buster Call on Ohara. He appears to share Vice Admiral Smoker’s dislike for the Shichibukai. Whitebeard regards him as one of the rare individuals who remembers the seas from the era of Gold Roger.
