Summary

Ryoma serves as the original commander of the Getter Team and stands as the central protagonist across numerous Getter Robo adaptations. In the source manga, he is depicted as an exceptionally violent martial artist and the son of Ichigan Nagare, known as the "Dojo Destroyer." His story begins when Professor Saotome’s assistants discover him after he invades a karate tournament to avenge his father’s dishonored reputation. Impressed by his skills, Saotome tests him further by dispatching three assassins, all of whom Ryoma kills. Left in a weakened state, he is subsequently kidnapped by Saotome and brought to the research center, where he encounters Saotome along with his children, Michiru and Tatsuhito. The institute soon falls under attack by dinosaurs, resulting in the deaths of many staff members, including Tatsuhito. With no other option, Saotome orders Ryoma to pilot the incomplete Getter Robo in his son’s stead to combat the dinosaur empire. Ryoma succeeds in this mission and assumes the role of leader for the Getter Team. However, the TV adaptation presents a starkly different characterization; here, Ryoma is a football player with a significantly more easy-going personality.
