As the eldest son of Degwin Sodo Zabi, the ruler of the Principality of Zeon who initiated the conflict with Earth, Gihren holds a prominent position within the Zabi family hierarchy. Following the death of Garma Zabi, Degwin’s favored child, in battle, the patriarch withdrew from daily governance, effectively transferring leadership of Zeon to Gihren. This shift in power was clearly demonstrated during Gihren’s address at Garma’s state funeral, where he likely introduced the iconic "Sieg Zeon!" salute, translating to "Victorious Zeon." Possessing an exceptional IQ of 240 and masterful oratory skills, Gihren frequently clashed with his sister Kycilia. Despite sharing similar political objectives, their approaches to achieving them were fundamentally different. While Gihren succeeded in marginalizing his father to a ceremonial figurehead, he still had to withstand Degwin’s constant criticism and disdain. Degwin viewed his son as a modern incarnation of Adolf Hitler, a comparison Gihren readily embraced.
