Summary
Hou Ken serves as one of Zhao’s "Three Great Heavens" and stands as the primary nemesis of Ou Ki. He is also recognized as a Bushin, identifying him as the prophesied rival of Kyou Kai. Although he considers himself a true Bushin, Hou Ken is actually a failed "Path Seeker" who spent the majority of his time in the mountains honing his skills with his guandao. His isolation ended during the conquest of Bayou when he emerged from his training to confront Kyou, one of the Six Great Generals, whose presence had drawn him out. Hou Ken effortlessly sliced through her elite bodyguards before Kyou herself arrived, ultimately killing her in combat. However, he was severely wounded by Ou Ki, who inflicted a facial scar and riddled his body with arrows before the Qin army departed. Hou Ken regained consciousness after the Qin forces had left and immediately resumed his training, acknowledging that his power was still far inferior to that of his conqueror. It took him three years to heal from his injuries, followed by another six years of rigorous training before Ri Boku approached him to participate in Zhao’s schemes against Qin.
