Summary
Ryo Mashiba is a fictional character from the anime and manga series Hajime No Ippo, also known as Fighting Spirit. Often referred to by the ominous nicknames "The Death God," "The Grim Reaper," or "The Executioner," he is one of the darker figures in the cast, though he occasionally displays a lighter, good-natured side. Born on June 30, 1971, in Tokyo, Japan, Mashiba stands 177 cm tall with a 187 cm reach and blood type A. He works as a professional boxer and truck driver, currently competing in the Lightweight division after previously fighting in the Featherweight and Junior Lightweight classes. He trains at the Toho Boxing Gym under the Toho Coach. Mashiba lives with his younger sister, Kumi, whom he is fiercely protective of. Both their parents passed away in an accident while Mashiba was still in school. His boxing style is unorthodox, featuring stances such as the Barrier Style, Hitman Style, and Orthodox Style. He is famous for his Hitman Style, which incorporates the flicker jab, a specialty modeled after Thomas Hearns. Another of his key techniques is a powerful chopping right delivered at close range.
