Summary
Rescued by Nagi as a cub during her explorations in Africa, Tama is a white tiger who was raised on a diet of premium Matsuzaka beef and expensive tuna fish. This luxurious upbringing has rendered him completely incapable of surviving in the wild or adapting to life in a zoo. Although he possesses the ability to speak human language, he keeps this secret from both Nagi and Maria, unwilling to shatter the young girl’s dreams. His devotion to Nagi is absolute; he is willing to sacrifice his life to protect her, largely because their shared circumstances remind him of Hayate’s situation. Tama’s hierarchy of respect places Maria at the very top, followed by an impassable wall, Nagi, himself, and finally everyone else. Despite being a species native to Asia, not Africa, the mangaka acknowledged this geographical error after fans pointed it out. Visually, Tama often adopts a cartoony appearance during comedic scenes or when speaking, standing on his hind legs at roughly human size, though he is occasionally depicted in his actual, smaller form.
