Toki, Kaoru
Seiyuu / Dub
Summary
Kaoru Toki is a first-year student, standing at fifteen or sixteen years old with a birthday on December 1st. She serves as a member of the Judo Club and possesses a boy-like physique, making her the tallest girl in the series until the introduction of Hirose Yuu from Eiryou, who is only slightly shorter than the notably tall Takatoshi Tsuda. Her appearance is marked by dark, shoulder-length hair typically tied in a ponytail with long side-swiped bangs covering her right eye, along with sharp, light brown eyes. She often keeps one hand in her skirt pocket and maintains a sloppy uniform style, with her shirt untucked, jacket unbuttoned, and tie loose. During the summer, she wears a dark t-shirt under her open uniform shirt, while off-campus she prefers dark t-shirts paired with jeans or baggy shorts. Despite her intimidating demeanor, deep voice, and harsh, boyish speaking style, Kaoru is actually a total klutz with no sense of direction. Her surly attitude and lack of speech might suggest she is a delinquent, but this is misleading. She is kind and considerate, as seen when she retrieves a bottle she missed throwing in the trash and offers her seat on a train to an elderly man. Although her appearance does not trigger Igarashi’s fear of males, her clumsiness is significant. She has gotten lost finding the school canteen, during a jog with the Judo Club, and while traveling to the Tsuda residence. She frequently wears clothes inside out, a habit that once led to her tucking her shirt into her underwear as a child, an event she still considers traumatic. Kaoru practices karate and is supremely confident in her skills, claiming she could handle five opponents at once, a statement Kotomi mistakenly interprets as sexual. This reputation leads Mutsumi Mitsuba, the Head of the Judo Club, to recruit her. Though generally apathetic, Kaoru felt energized after a match with Mutsumi and decided the club membership was worthwhile. She is determined and hardworking, applying extra effort to her studies when necessary.
